Mission Statement
The Lowville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is located in the County of
Lewis, Village of Lowville and was duly organized in 1829, as a village fire
department to provide fire protection.
Membership of the fire
department is comprised of active and exempt with the total active
membership of eighty members. Active membership is further divided into
interior structural firefighters and non-interior structural firefighters.
The Lowville Volunteer Fire
Department Inc. is organized to save lives, suppress and control fires,
hazardous materials situations, and other services such as fire prevention
education programs. The Lowville Volunteer Fire Department will perform
other activities as deemed in the best interest of the fire department and
the citizens of our community.
It is the intent of the board
of directors to place the safety of our firefighters as a priority and
provide to our utmost ability for the safety of our personnel by
developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating a safety and health
program.
