The
Lowville Volunteer Fire Department protects a wide span from
Montague to Watson. Based in Lowville, New York, the fleet of
powerful fire engines along with our team of some 80 volunteer
firefighters answer calls in Lowville, Watson,
Harrisburg, Montague and many surrounding areas as needed. The 80
some volunteers carry pagers to answer the call in case of an
Emergency. Their duties include regular station and equipment
maintenance, fire incident reporting, public service, and answering
emergency calls. Many of the volunteers hold a Firefighter
Certificate, Rope Rescue and Hazardous Materials Awareness. Other skills include
Vehicle Extrication, Pump Certificate, Fire Investigation,
and Advanced Rehabilitation Services. These volunteers answer calls
without any sort of compensation at any hour of the day, time of
year, or type of incident.
All members of
the Fire Department train the 3rd Monday night of each month on all
aspects of the fire service.
The Lowville
Volunteer Fire Department responds on a wide range of incidents
including High Angle Rescue, Building Fires, Fire Alarm Activations,
Operation Surveillance, Brush and Wild land Fires, Hazardous Materials
Incidents, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Weather Related Emergencies and
many out of town emergencies. The Lowville Volunteer Fire Department
runs on a mutual aid agreement with the surrounding towns on all
major incidents.
